CITI Program

CITI Requirement

Before submitting an IRB application, all researchers must complete online training through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) programPlease plan ahead when completing CITI training. CITI certification expires 3 years after the date of completion.

Dissertation Committee Chairs and faculty/staff researchers at NCU, and any co-investigator/research assistants are required to obtain and hold current CITI certification at all times. 

Please follow the instructions below to meet this requirement. If you experience technical issues with the CITI site, please contact CITI directly.

The current requirement for CITI training is the Social & Behavioral Educational (SBE) course.

How do I register for a new CITI account?

If you do not currently have a CITI account, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the CITI registration page for new users
  2. Enter Northcentral University as your Organization Affiliation
  3. Enter all relevant information in the fields, then follow the prompts
  4. Finally, select the courses that are applicable and complete the process


How do I affiliate my existing CITI account with Northcentral University?

If you already have a CITI account, follow these instructions to affiliate with Northcentral University:

  1. Login to CITI
  2. Below where it states: Welcome, your name, select Add Institutional Affiliation
  3. Enter in Northcentral University
  4. Agree Confirm, then Complete and Finalize the registration


How do I add a new CITI course to my account?

All NCU student and faculty researchers are required to complete the CITI course titled “Social & Behavioral Educational (SBE).” To find this course, follow these instructions:

  1. Login to CITI
  2. Under Institutional Affiliation, next to "Northcentral University," select View Courses
  3. Scroll down to Learner Tools for Northcentral University and select Add a Course
  4. The questions for course enrollment will then be displayed


How do I download my CITI certificate?

How do I import my CITI completion into the IRB application?

To add your CITI account to your NCU IRB Manager account, you should first login to the IRB Manager. Once you have signed in: 

  1. On the top navigational pane, click on the second option labeled "2. Import your CITI Completion"
  2. Enter in any email addresses that you have affiliated with your CITI account
  3. Once completed, click submit
  4. If completed correctly, you will receive a confirmation email from CITI regarding the affiliation

Please allow up to 24 hours for IRB to recognize that you have associated the account with CITI Program

How to access additional CITI webinars & training modules

Northcentral University recently added a webinar package for all NCU researchers, staff, and faculty. If you are interested in reviewing the additional resources from CITI, please see the instructions/video below to learn how to add the webinars to your account:

  1. Login to your CITI Program account
  2. From the home page, scroll down to the "Learner Tools for Northcentral University"
  3. Select "Add a Course"
  4. Select the course(s) you would like to add
  5. Scroll to the bottom and select "Submit" and follow the remaining prompts
