SoPSS: Psychotherapy

The American Counseling Association is a not-for-profit, professional and educational organization that is dedicated to the growth and enhancement of the counseling profession.

AGPA serves as the voice of group therapy for mental health clinicians and the public-at-large, both nationally and internationally. The AGPA provides vital information on group psychotherapy in a variety of ways.

In psychotherapy, psychologists apply scientifically validated procedures to help people develop healthier, more effective habits. There are several approaches to psychotherapy — including cognitive-behavioral, interpersonal and other kinds of talk therapy — that help individuals work through their problems.

The mission of the Catholic Psychotherapy Association is to support mental health practitioners by promoting the development of psychological theory and mental health practice which encompasses a full understanding of the human person, family, and society in fidelity to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church.

The EAP represents 128 organisations (31 national umbrella associations, 17 European-wide associations for psychotherapy) from 41 European countries and by that more than 120.000 psychotherapists.

The International Association for Cognitive Psychotherapy (IACP) is an international professional, scientific, interdisciplinary organization whose mission is to alleviate human suffering by facilitating the world-wide development, utilization, and growth of cognitive psychotherapy as a scientific discipline and professional activity.

Psychotherapy is a general term for treating mental health problems by talking with a psychiatrist, psychologist or other mental health provider.
