Read Chapter 4. This chapter examines the four parts of IDEA (Parts A, B, C, and D) and the core principles of the law. You will also examine funding mechanisms and enforcement and monitoring rules.  The information in this chapter will be helpful in creating your assignment. 

Read the Appendix.  Use the charts on these pages to help understand the changes that were made to IDEA in 2004.  Each change has a title and section reference, a category of change, and a brief description of how the 2004 change impacts special education services. Topics such as homeless children, Limited English Proficiency, highly qualified teacher credentials, and other changes may help you brainstorm ideas for your Signature Assignment.
