Adult Learning and Workforce Education

Adult Education and Family Literacy Act of 1998- reforms Federal employment, adult education, and vocational rehabilitation programs to create an integrated, "one-stop" system of workforce investment and education activities for adults and youth.

Adult Education Research Conference - site provides conference proceedings from 1993-present which reflect the changing emphasis and orientation of research in adult education.

American Association for Adult and Continuing Education (AAACE) - fosters the development and dissemination of theory, research, information, and best practices in the field of adult and continuing education.

Center for Education Attainment and Innovation - committed to adult learning and attainment and offers a wide range of programs and initiatives that support postsecondary access and success.

Commission of Adult Basic Education (COABE) – provides publications, research, methods, and materials, resources, and programs in adult education and literacy.

Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL) - national non-profit organization which creates and manages effective learning strategies for working adults. Includes publications on a variety of adult education issues, downloadable for free.

Division of Adult Education and Literacy (DAEL) – US Department of Education division  that promotes programs that help American adults get the basic skills they need to be productive workers, family members, and citizens.

Education Resources Information Center (ERIC) - online library of education research and information, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education.

National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) - primary federal entity for collecting and analyzing data related to education.

National Center for the Study of Adult Learning and Literacy - although this organization no longer exists due to the end of federal funding, research publications are still available on their site.

National Council for Workforce Education (NCWE) - serves as the national leader providing resources and expertise to community colleges to enhance their efforts in preparing the current and future workforce in a global economy.

Office of Vocational and Adult Education – US Department of Education division that administers and coordinates programs that are related to adult education and literacy, career and technical education, and community colleges.

Reauthorization of the Adult Education and Family Literacy Act (AEFLA) - provides up to date information on the progress of reauthorization and the key policy issues being considered.

Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP): Resources for Coaches  - resources on how to teach and apply sport psychology skills.

Coach Interviews – over 100 interviews from Coach and Athletic Director magazine.

Coach Tracking Study - a four year research project that followed over 400 coaches in the United Kingdom. The report looks at the coaches’ experiences, motivations, development and the support they have received.

ETS Online Teaching Policy Report - presents the results of a six-month research project examining virtual K–12 teaching and learning.

International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) – provides a variety of research, reports, and resources regarding online and blended learning. Produces the National Standards for Quality Online Teaching.

International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE) - leading global membership organization for enhancing the quality of open, distance, flexible and online education, including e-learning.

International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) Standards – provides the ISTE Standards for Teachers, the standards for evaluating the skills and knowledge educators need to teach, work and learn in an increasingly connected global and digital society.

Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) - curated collection of free and open online teaching, learning, and faculty development services contributed and used by an international education community.

National Education Association: Guide to Teaching Online Courses - provides an overview of the development of an effective online education system, focusing particularly on the skills teachers need to teach effectively online, the professional development necessary to acquire those skills, and the models schools need to evaluate and improve online teaching.
