Alumni Databases

There are a number of factors affecting alumni access to Library databases including licensing restrictions, cost, and proven need or use. For details, please see our Alumni Databases FAQ. Please note that alumni do not have access to Interlibrary Loan; please do not submit any Interlibrary Loan requests.

Academic Video Online - A multidisciplinary collection of videos that touches on the curriculum needs of virtually every department. Contains more than 48,000 video titles spanning essential subject areas including anthropology, business, counseling, history, music, film, and more. Full length videos.

Annual Reviews - offers critically reviewed and filtered primary research for the following disciplines: psychology, sociology, anthropology, environment and resources, law and social science, political science, and public health. Locate seminal research in your field. Great resource for developing a research topic or literature review. Full-text available.

Directory of Open Access Books - provides over 4,000 academic peer-reviewed books from 155 publishers. Full-text available.

Directory of Open Access Journals - an online index of close to 11,000 open access journals from 13 countries. Many journals are peer-reviewed. Journals and articles can be browsed or searched by keyword or advanced search options. Full-text available.

Ebrary - Search Ebrary for over 100,000 full-text, academic e-books in Business, Psychology, and Education. Full-text available.

ERIC (Education Resources Information Center) - Online library of education research and information, sponsored by the Institute of Education Sciences (IES) of the U.S. Department of Education. Mainly citations.

ETS Test Link - The Test Collection at ETS is a database of more than 25,000 tests and other measurement devices most of which were created by authors outside ETS. It makes information on standardized tests and research instruments available to researchers, graduate students and teachers. With information about tests from the early 1900s to the present, the Test Collection at ETS is the largest compilation in the world. This database also contains 1200 tests that can be purchased for use in research.

Films on Demand - Films Media Group is the leading source of high-quality video and multimedia for academic, vocational and life-skills content. Films Media Group serves the education community through its four brands: Films for the Humanities and Sciences, Cambridge Educational, Meridian Education, and Shopware. Full length videos.

Find a Resource - Search for particular journals, magazines, newspapers, and e-books within the Alumni Databases. If your publication is available, the results screen will tell you which years you have access to and in which databases.

Gale Academic OneFile - A comprehensive database that currently contains more than 12,000 journals covering topics from Science, Technology and Medicine to the humanities, including Educators Reference Complete and 25+ specialization databases from Gale. Full-text available.

Homeland Security Digital Library - Over 166,000 documents related to homeland security policy, strategy, and organizational management from a wide variety of sources including federal, state and local governments; international governments and institutions; nonprofit organizations and private entities. Full-text available.

NCU Dissertations - Search Northcentral University dissertations and abstracts. Northcentral University Dissertations are available to Northcentral University students, faculty, staff and alumni. Full-text available.

ProQuest - an ideal database for full-text, scholarly, peer-reviewed journals, trade publications, magazines, newspapers in areas of business, psychology, and education. Full-text available.

Psychotherapy.net Collection - Includes more than 150 in-depth training videos from one of the counseling professions’ most respected video providers. All Psychotherapy.net titles are created by and for psychotherapists and provide reliable, detailed instructions for serving diverse populations and therapeutic issues. Films within the collection also provide step-by-step instructions for successfully implementing dozens of therapeutic approaches. Full length videos.  

PubMed - PubMed is a service of the U.S. National Library of Medicine which includes over 23 million citations for biomedical literature from MEDLINE, life science journals, and online books. Full-text available.

RefWorks (Legacy version) - an online research management, writing and collaboration tool -- is designed to help researchers easily gather, manage, store and share all types of information, as well as generate citations and bibliographies. RefWorks (NEW version) - the new version of RefWorks online research management, writing and collaboration. Create an account with your NCU email address. Migrate your citations from Legacy RefWorks to your new account. See the RefWorks page for more details. 

SAGE Journals Online - subscription offers access to all SAGE journal publications from 1999 to present. All SAGE content is scholarly/peer reviewed and contains journals on subject areas from behavioral sciences to marketing to urban affairs to special education. Full-text available.

SAGE Knowledge - expansive range of SAGE eBook and eReference content--more than 4,700 titles—including scholarly monographs, reference works, handbooks, series, and professional development titles. Full-text available.

SAGE Navigator - Social sciences literature review tool, designed to help graduate and doctoral students at the start of the literature review process. This database provides an extensive overview of nearly 300 social science topics (including business, education, and psychology) written by SAGE editors and renowned academics, as well as key readings. Full-text available.

SAGE Research Methods - a tool designed to help you create research projects and understand the methods behind them. Includes over 1,400 methods that are linked to content in over 640 books, encyclopedias, and videos. Full text available.

SAGE Video - Streaming video collections are developed in partnership with leading academics, societies, and practitioners, including many of SAGE’s own authors and academic partners, to deliver cutting-edge pedagogical and research-oriented video within the social sciences. NCU's subscription includes: Business & Management, Counseling & Psychotherapy, Education, and Psychology. Full length videos.

Statista - Provides access to statistical data for over 60,000 diverse topics categorized into over 20 market sectors. Sources of data include market research, trade publications, scientific journals, and government databases. Also includes statistics glossary, infographics, key topics, industry reports, statistical dossiers, and more.

Taylor & Francis Online - Explore a world of specialist information for the academic professional and business communities. Features the Taylor & Francis Social Sciences and Humanities Collection, Routledge and Psychology Press titles. Excellent database for locating scholarly, peer-reviewed journal articles. Full-text available. 

Ulrichsweb - Ulrichsweb is an easy to search source of detailed information on more than 300,000 periodicals of all types: academic and scholarly journals, e-journals, peer-reviewed titles, popular magazines, newspapers, newsletters, and more. No full-text. 

WorldCat - Search library catalogs from around the world. Use this database to locate resources in your local libraries. Citations only.
